Flokk strengthens North American presence with acquisition of ergoCentric

Flokk, a leading global manufacturer of workspace seating, has acquired ergoCentric of Toronto, Canada. This further strengthens Flokk’s North American presence by adding one of Canada’s foremost specialists in ergonomic task seating, with nationwide distribution and a dedicated manufacturing facility in Toronto. With this acquisition, Flokk is expected to reach annual sales of approximately $600 million.

“By adding ergoCentric to the Flokk group, we significantly strengthen our footprint in Canada and enhance our position in the growing ergonomic task seating segment. With ergoCentric’s strong market position and distribution, we gain scale in Canada and capabilities that complement our existing brands in North America,” said Henning Karlsrud, Group CEO of Flokk.

Founded in 1990, ergoCentric is headquartered in Toronto, where Flokk already operates through Spec Furniture, acquired earlier this year, creating a strong combined platform in the Canadian market.

ergoCentric has annual revenue of approximately $57.6 million and a staff of approximately 220. The company serves the mid- to high-end segment of the ergonomic seating market, with task chairs as its core category. It will continue to operate as an independent brand within the Flokk portfolio, retaining its existing management team, production facility and sales and distribution organization.

“We already have an established commercial and production relationship with Flokk. Drawing on this experience, I am confident that Flokk will provide an excellent home for ergoCentric and enable us to accelerate our growth and broaden our reach across North America,” said Terry Cassaday, founder and CEO of ergoCentric.

Cassaday will remain with the company through the integration to ensure continuity for customers, employees, and partners.

Expanding in North America Flokk is a global manufacturer of high-quality workspace furniture, with a strong presence in both Europe and North America. Although its heritage is Scandinavian, Flokk is now an international company serving blue-chip clients worldwide as a total seating solutions provider.

North America is now Flokk’s largest market and key growth driver, supported by a growing portfolio of strong regional brands including 9to5 Seating, Stylex, Via Seating, Spec Furniture and ergoCentric.

“ergoCentric is our second acquisition in Canada this year. This is a seating market comparable in size to Germany, with attractive growth prospects and natural commercial ties to the key US markets. Together, our acquisitions in North America have significantly strengthened our market position and growth outlook,” said Karlsrud.

Through a combination of organic growth and acquisitions, Flokk has reached annual sales of close to $600 million. Flokk has a clear growth strategy, and acquisitions are an important part of that strategy. As the workplace furniture industry evolves, Flokk has deliberately diversified its brand portfolio, geographic footprint, and revenue streams.

“We are actively evaluating several attractive opportunities, both in Europe and North America. We believe that our presence in North America makes us more resilient and better positioned for long-term growth. We continue to see significant opportunities to strengthen our position in the region through both organic expansion and strategic acquisitions,” said Karlsrud.

In addition to its growing North American portfolio, the company also owns HÅG, RH, Giroflex, Offecct, Profim and Malmstolen. The company now has about 2,000 employees. Its head office is in Oslo, Norway, with nine global production sites in Europe, the United States, Canada and China. Flokk products are sold in more than 80 countries worldwide.
